Avatar Defeated by Chinese Internet Gamer Home-brew film “Internet Addiction War” – Part 2
“Internet Addiction War” is short for “See Your Sister’s Internet Addiction War”. This movie lasts more than an hour long and made from the game scenes of the famous online game “World of Warcraft”. The author, “sexy corn” is a famous gamer in the “World of Warcraft” community. And the production team is called “Love Tiger Oil” (Chinese transliteration of “I love you”). All the participants involved in dubbing “World of Warcraft” are well-known players of the online game.
The movie is played by animation characters in the online game, accompanied by narrations and dialogues. It tells a story of fighting between the villain and a game players’ team who represents the justice. The story is mainly based on the conflict between two famous online companies, 9 City (http://the9.com) and Netease (http://163.com) competing for the “World of Warcraft” Chinese franchise. It makes fun of not only the content approval process and Chinese customizations of the game, but also the fierce competition between the two companies.
Because of the comprehensive contents and references of this movie, one posted that he had viewed this one hour plus movie for five times in total. He also couldn’t helping reviewing “Flirting Scholar”( 唐伯虎点秋香) by Stephen Chow周星馳(of Shaolin Soccer少林足球, Kung Fu Hustle功夫) and Gong Li 巩丽 (of Memoirs of a Geisha, Miami Vice) and “Terminator 2: Judgment Day ” one more time. And then downloaded Linlin’s “Can’t forget” 《忘不了开》 cover of “Suddenly” 《忽然之间》(by Karen Mok莫文蔚). He commented, “I can only say that this is God’s master piece. The production, voice acting, lines, scripts, along with the parodies of a series of events, they integrated to be an unquestionable prefect work, really amazing!”

Background Tips
“If you asked me yesterday which film is the best in 2009, I probably would answer “Avatar”. But today, I would certainly response with the “Internet Addiction War”. Only being uploaded online for less than two weeks, “Internet Addiction War” the home-brew film made by some online gamers has become an instant hit. The visual materials were taken and edited from the famous online game “World of Warcraft”. The film in particular jokes about the Chinese so-called “Internet addiction treatment expert” Yang Yongxin, but also references some of the hottest 2009 events in China, such as the Shanghai Phishing law enforcement case, and the “70km/h racing” accident in Hangzhou.
Zero investment on the production, but more shocking than “Avatar”
“We laughed, then cried!” In the past few days, “Internet Addiction War”, a “Shanzhai” (a Chinese term for grassroots representation of a famous production) film made from the “World of Warcraft” game scenes is the hottest hit in Chinese forums. It grabs the eyes and hearts of millions of netizens, and even is seen as a great epic, has gained positive reviews such as “more shocking than Avatar”. People posted millions threads on forums asserting that “we dare shout out even though our voices are too low to be heard”. The villain in this movie is named “Yang You Xin(first tone)”, which clearly implies “Yang Yong Xin(fourth tone)”, the claimed Medical Technologist who uses “Electric Shock Therapy” to treat Cyberholics. This villain is eventually defeated by the Warcraft players on behalf of justice. Other 2009 most popular events being parodied include such as “70km/h racing accident” and “Phishing Law Enforcement”, etc. Many reason are behind the attentions being placed on this “zero-investment epic”. Some explained it with the Statistical theory of “Long Tail”, saying that a hugh population in the bottom of society are being awakened with their desire for freedom.
Apple iPad = iPhone X 4? January 31, 2010

Rumers about Apple’s new tablet computers had been around for quite a while and had been denied by Apple like it always did before new product releases.
We have all prepared that an Apple tablet would just be something more like an “iPhone on steroids” and we recently estimated the release date to be April 2010. Not to anybody’s surprise, the “iPhone on steroids” has proved to be the best description of the new Apple Tablet, and it will indeed be released in April 2010.
Finally, we knew this thing will be called iPad, to separate itself from tablet computers such as Microsoft’s new Slate PC category. Ironically, it was soon reported that IPad was already patented by Fujitsu for its WinCE based device in 2002. (please see http://www.currentdirections.com/hardware/fujitsu/ipad100.html for the details about Fujitsu iPad).
Regardless of the dispute on the name iPad, Apple iPad was finally unveiled by Apple’s CEO, Steve Jobs last week.
Steve Jobs was quite confident that the new born iPad, will have many reasons to beat both smartphones and laptops easily. This is claimed to be another revolution following its elder brother and sister, iPod and iPhone. It will completely change the horizon of the world of personal computers. As consumers we really welcome any good revolutions that can improve our lifestyle and most of us have place our hope on Apple.
The expectations on this under-development product had been going higer and higher and peak to the top last week. However, after the preview event, some of us have been really disappointed since then. Tons of negative critisism have flooded blogs, forums and the whole cyberspace. People are making fun on it showcasing their exceptional creativities.
In Australia, iPad is compared to Blu-Tack, a commonly used re-usable adhesive. The only advantage iPad has over Blu-Tack is that it’s sold in Apple’s stores! What’s a mean comparison! (visit Blue-tack official website at http://www.blutack.com/ )
There’s also a photoshopped picture showing that Steve Jobs was showing off the new iPad, while the iPad actually was 4 iPhones sticked together by tapes.
Well, my only hope is that the new iPad will be sold cheaper than the price of four iPhones, that will certainly make it a better deal.

Welcome to WordPress.com. This is your my post. I’ve just started blogging!
I’ve heard that WordPress is the best blogging website so I couldn’t help to try it out myself. I had not done any blogging before but I figured I should use the best one out there as soon as I started. A good start is half way to success, we all know that.
First I would like to try some of the exiting features provided by WordPress. I tried posting a Youtube video last night on another blog and it didn’t seem to be working so I try it once again here. First it doesn’t look like working as on my another site. So I was wondering if there’s something wrong here with me, not the websites that I had tried.
Finally it turns out that the Youtube video is not displayed when I browse my websites with the latest version of Firefox. When I use IE7, the problem goes away. I just started using Firefox yesterday because that I often got a message telling me that my IE7 is a legacy browser and I should have upgraded to a newer one that supports more current technologies so I installed Firefox. But it doesn’t show the youtube videos for me. I’m not so sure if it’s just a setting that I don’t know how I can turn it on. I remember that long time ago I had heard of all the goods about Firefox and did give it a try and removed it not long after because it didn’t seem to give me any benefits. Hope I’m wrong again. It’s just me not being familiar enough with it causing all the problems. I guess I’ll need to surf around to find some basic tutorial materials on using Firefox. Give me some links if you have useful information on Firefox, I’ll appreciate it. Thanks in advance.
